The
Queen has approved Boris Johnson’s controversial plan to suspend parliament.
After a meeting of the Privy Council at Balmoral, the monarch backed the prime minister’s request for parliament to be prorogued between September 9 and October 14.
Opposition MPs have today reacted with outrage over the move, which they say severely restricts MPs’ ability to scrutinise the government’s
Brexit plans.
It has sparked more fears that the
UK could crash out of the EU without a deal on October 31.
