From local radio to TV and cinema stardom, and back again, there are many mysteries to this entertainment giant. In 2013, he told us how he became a national treasure; three years later he called Noel Edmonds “a total wazzock”. In 2020, he invited us to his oasthouse and in 2022, he endured being interviewed by Steve Coogan (“Although we look similar, Coogan cuts an altogether frailer figure … that may be his posture, crumpled by years spent hunching over a laptop computer or looking down on people …”)Now it’s your turn. He’s done radio: first on Radio 4’s On the Hour, then returning in 2010 to present Mid Morning Matters on North Norfolk Digital. He’s done TV: BBC Two’s The Day Today, followed by his own BBC chatshow – Knowing Me, Knowing You With Alan Partridge (where he accidentally shot dead a guest during a segment on duelling pistols).
