The Welsh ex-girlfriend of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty has warned celebrities taking part in future series of
Strictly Come Dancing to "involve their families" in the process as it can be a "lonely place." In an interview with Sun on Sunday Eiri Monroe, who has a three-year-old son George with the sportsman, said she experienced "intense" attention around Peaty's steamy routines on the show and it "was definitely the beginning of the end,” for the pair. Peaty appeared on the
BBC show back in 2021 and was paired with Katya Jones. Eiri shared some advice to prospective contestants, telling the publication: “My advice wouldn’t be to the partners of those going on Strictly, but for the celebrities participating; involve your family in the process — it can be a very lonely process for partners. “Also reassure your partner, especially when the world inevitably begins to speculate there’s something going on between you and your dance partner." Eiri, 26, an artist, met Peaty at Loughborough University. The couple welcomed son George in September 2020 but announced they had split in August 2022 when Peaty posted on Instagram: "Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, two of those with our gorgeous son George. "Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship. I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years. "Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further." Eiri also informed her followers of the development and took a break from
Social Media at the time, she wrote: "Family,
Friends and followers: The last three years have been so, so amazing. Our little family has experienced so much laughter and love and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that!" she wrote. "This next chapter of my life is surely going to be an incredibly difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating or messaging. I have shared so much of my life, but for now I'm choosing privacy and I hope that you will all respect that.
