Noel Fielding has spoken out about his co-presenter Sandi Toksvig’s departure from Great
British Bake Off.
On Thursday morning, it was announced that Sandi would be stepping down from the show after the upcoming Stand Up For Cancer specials, leaving Channel 4 on the hunt for a new co-host for Noel.
Shortly after the news broke, the former Mighty Boosh star shared a tribute to her, reflecting on their three-year stint hosting the show together and comparing them to The Rolling Stones.
He wrote: “I feel like Tom without Jerry ! Mick without a Keef :( gonna miss yooooooooooooooooo and the wonderful times we got to play together in the tent!”″ Noel added: “Double acts are rare and magical beast and working with you was a pleasure.”I feel like Tom without Jerry ! BBC One to Channel 4.
Sandi said her decision to quit was rooted in the fact she wanted to focus more on her other work commitments.
She explained: “When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family.
“Unusually I am departing from the Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work. As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show.
“Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel has been one of the great pleasures of my life. These are friendships which I know will continue beyond the confines of television.”In a press statement, Channel 4 revealed the “hunt is currently on” for Noel’s new co-host, joking: “Candidates must have experience of mopping up spills and the occasional tear, making tea and keeping the amateur bakers to time.
