Bill Hader Confirms Romance With Ali Wong After Months of Speculation
Apr 18, 2023
We have no beef with this couple: Ali Wong and Bill Hader are dating! After months of speculation, his rep told “Entertainment Tonight” that the “Barry” actor and the “Beef” star are an item. In fact, the rep noted that Hader, 44, and Wong, 40, are “dating again,” confirming the pair has reunited after a reportedly brief romance in late 2022. The “Saturday Night Live” alum even addressed his relationship status in a recent interview by referencing his “girlfriend.” “My girlfriend and I were just figuring out that I haven’t had a vacation in 10 years,” Hader told Collider during a discussion about his career. “I went with her to San Francisco, but that doesn’t really count. So, I’m going to have a vacation.” “I need to go into sponge mode, where I’m watching stuff and reading,” he added. “Even during the pandemic, I was so stressed out and paranoid that I couldn’t really focus on anything. So, it’s more about trying to get into a better [headspace]. I meditate, but every time I sit down to meditate, I end up passing out and falling asleep. I think I just need a break.” Rachel Bilson and Bill Hader’s Golden Globes 2020 Debut The pair’s romance comes one year after a rep for Wong confirmed her split from her husband of eight years, Justin Hakuta. “It’s amicable,” a source previously told E! News of the former couple, who share kids Mari, 7, and Nikki, 5, “and they will continue to co-parent lovingly.” As for Hader, he and ex-wife Maggie Carey are parents to daughters Hannah, 13, Harper, 10, and Hayley, 8. (Hader and Carey called it quits in 2017 after 11 years of marriage.) In recent years, Hader has been linked to “The O.C.” actress Rachel Bilson and “Pitch Perfect” star Anna Kendrick. But don’t expect Hader to share too much about his private life. Why? To protect his kids. “They just want me to be their dad,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2022. “They just want me to sit and watch ‘Encanto’ over and over and over again. So that’s what I do.”

Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk Isn't Interested In An MCU Movie
Apr 10, 2023
Don't expect Bob Odenkirk to appear in a superhero movie anytime soon. Speaking to The Independent, the Breaking Bad and Lucky Hank actor was asked about the potential for him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his celebrated performance in the action movie Nobody. Odenkirk said he's not a good match for the superhero movie world."I always like to keep things grounded, relatable, and smaller. I don't think I'm built for that world," he said (via IndieWire). "I'm built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door."Odenkirk starred in the 2021 movie Nobody, a film based on his own traumatic experiences of having a gun to his head and the time his home was broken into. Odenkirk did extensive physical stunts in Nobody, and a sequel is now in the works. Odenkirk told The Independent about the sequel, "I care about this more than you could imagine."Odenkirk is perhaps best known for playing the lawyer Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Before he landed that role, Odenkirk was more well known for his comedic projects like Saturday Night Live, Mr. Show, and The Ben Stiller Show. He auditioned for the role of Michael Scott on the American version of The Office.Odenkirk's latest project is the TV series Lucky Hank, which premiered in March on AMC. Odenkirk will star in a remake of Tommy Wiseau's The Room in the lead role of Johnny.

House Republicans are 'in a hole and digging' as Democrats watch them flail
Apr 09, 2023
The inability of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to get his leadership team on the same page as they attempt to come up with a budget plan is being greeted with joy by House Democrats and White House officials who are more than willing to watch the GOP infighting go public. The once-again embattled McCarthy has been sniping at some of his top lieutenants, with Politico reporting that he"...has taken shots at Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-TX) as 'incompetent' and chief deputy Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) as 'ineffective,'" with the report adding, "People close to McCarthy tell us that he perceives both men as disloyal (and we know from covering McCarthy for almost a decade that he holds grudges)." According to Axios, things aren't getting any better, and in fact are getting worse, allowing Democrats to sit back and not have to throw him a lifeline. RELATED: Kevin McCarthy's 'chickens are coming home to roost': report One top Democrat who is observing the House Republican's "dysfunction" told Axios, Republicans are "in a hole and digging ...so why take away their shovels?" The report adds, "The report has reassured Democrats that the Biden administration's refusal to move forward with talks before McCarthy releases a GOP budget outline is the correct approach." "A White House official told Axios that Biden's strategy of holding out for a 'clean' debt ceiling increase and only negotiating on the budget once Republicans present a proposal remains unchanged," the Axios report added.

'Normal people are repulsed by Trump': The Manhattan indictment is chasing away independent voters
Apr 09, 2023
Any hopes that the Republican party might have that the indictment of Donald Trump in a Manhattan courtroom last Tuesday will convince outraged independent voters to jump on the Trump train should be put on hold, according to a Wall Street Journal report. While GOP lawmakers are rallying to the former president's side despite a whopping 34 felony counts related to his alleged payment of hush money to an adult film star and a Playboy model, independent voters and some two-time Trump voters are saying they have had enough and are moving on.According to the Journal's John McCormick, "While the indictment may embolden Mr. Trump’s core supporters, it is unlikely to help him reach more of the centrist voters he would need to reclaim the White House. A poll released by CNN last week showed 62% of independents approve of the indictment, while Democrats were nearly universal in their approval of it and Republicans largely disapproved of it."Case in point, Randy Marquardt, the Republican party chairman in Washington County, Wisconsin, said a recent get-together broke up when Trump's name came up as the possible 2024 presidential nominee.ALSO IN THE NEWS: GOPer flips out after CNN's Dana Bash fact-checks him on abortion drug“It got ugly and people eventually went their separate ways to head home,” explained Marquardt. “The other guy argued that Trump came with too much baggage, but there are still quite a few people who are all in with Trump.”Dallas lawyer David Sherwood, who voted for Mr. Trump in 2016 and 2020, has no desire to see the indicted former president on the ballot in 2024, telling the Journal, "The party should avoid Trump and find a younger and fresher candidate,” before adding, “I don’t think Trump can win because he has too much baggage. He has good policies, but an abrasive personality.”Independent Josh Olson, of Huntersville, N.C., predicted Republicans would have trouble appealing to voters like himself.“A lot of us normal people are repulsed by Trump already, whether he was indicted or not,” he explained.Kevin Welch, an independent living Pottsville, Pa. said he would be willing to consider a Republican who is not the former president even though he voted for him twice before.“He’s just too caustic,” he remarked. “I liked some of the things he did for this country, but the division that he causes, because of the words he uses, creates a lot of tension.”You can read more here.
