Former Conservative Antoinette Sandbach has joined the Liberal Democrats.
Sandbach, who will stand in her Eddisbury in Cheshire seat as a Lib Dem, was sacked by
Boris Johnson for rebelling on Brexit.
She is the fifth former Tory MP to join the Lib Dems in recent months.
Sandbach said: “This general
election will be the most important in my lifetime. People have a very clear choice, the Conservative party offers years of uncertainty whilst the Liberal
Democrats will stop Brexit.”
She added: “Our country deserves so much better than Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn. I can’t wait to get to work, win this election and then deliver for my constituents and our country.”
Party leader Jo Swinson tweeted: “Delighted to welcome @Sandbach as the latest @LibDems MP! Excited to work with her to #StopBrexit and build a brighter future!”Related... Johnson Allows Ten Rebel MPs Back Into Tory Party 'Angry' Tory MPs Demand Boris Johnson Reinstates 21
