Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has described scoring his first goal at Old Trafford against
Liverpool as 'an unbelievable feeling'. Alejandro Garnacho almost gave United the perfect start to the game when finding the back of the net shortly after kick-off, but the goal was disallowed through offside after a delayed pass. Both sides made an intense start and it was Liverpool who drew first blood after 20 minutes, with an unmarked Luis Diaz finding the back of the net from a corner. Jurgen Klopp's side continued to create chances and should have been leading by more when half-time arrived. Fernandes' finish from the centre circle was outstanding and Mainoo made it 2-1 just after the hour mark with an equally impressive strike into the top right corner. Academy graduate Mainoo has been exceptional since
BREAKING into the first team in November and he's in contention to win United's Player of the Season award, despite being absent for the first part of the campaign due to an ankle injury sustained in pre-season. After the final whistle, Mainoo spoke to Sky Sports and said: "I feel like the second half we performed really well, we picked it up and the lads worked really hard. "It was just minor mistakes, not anything major and I think we need to iron them out. Of course it's an unbelievable feeling, my first professional goal at Old Trafford and to do it in this fixture is also amazing. "But at the end of the day, we didn't walk away with the three points, so I can't be too happy. It felt good and I got a bit ahead of myself [beginning to celebrate before the ball hit the net] but it went in." When asked about the mistakes United made, Mainoo clarified: "I feel like it's just little mistakes on and off the ball. They happen in games but sometimes they can be detrimental and I feel that's what cost us. "The first half was tough, they're a good side and against these teams they're always dangerous and it's always a tough game, especially in this fixture."
