BBC Countryfile presenter has opened up about his own marriage - admitting that at times things can be "messy". Sean Fletcher is married to Luned Tonderai, a Welsh TV producer and director, and they recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Sean has opened up on their marriage for iNews and despite sharing two children and plenty of happy times, with 42% of couples now divorcing, he was keen not to gloss over the difficulties married couples face. He said: "I’m focusing on the tough stuff here because the key to us lasting in a relationship together is not how we have enjoyed the good times. That’s easy. The real success is how we have reacted during the bad periods. "No, we don’t neatly resolve everything. More often than not, it’s messy. Britain host, and Luned met at university and within a couple of years Luned was pregnant with their daughter and they married in March 1999 when she was a baby. "Twenty-five years on we certainly have something to celebrate. What I’ve come to learn though is that we have so much in common with the 42%. We get on each other’s nerves, irritate each other, disagree, argue and do many of the other things couples do who end up calling it quits. "For us, all of the above can go on for days, sometimes longer. At times it has been so much of a struggle we have both wondered whether we are with the right person. We certainly haven’t followed the “don’t go to sleep on an argument” advice. Who does? The closer the person to you, the deeper the hurt goes." But he says despite any disagreements, the couple make time for each other and particularly enjoy their weekend walks. He said: "We’ve always enjoyed spending a lot of time together, which is just as well as initially, it was a necessity. At 21 and 23, when our daughter was born, we only had each other. No one else we knew our age was going through grown-up things like parenthood and marriage." Sean finished the article, saying: "No marriage succeeds without hard work, and constantly keeping things alive, evolving and responding. Without time together, honestly communicating our feelings, we take our eyes off the ball. It’s a constant work in progress and we’ve learnt the hard way that the moment you become complacent you open yourself up to issues. "Above all though, Luned is my best friend and a lover who has shared a wonderful 25-year adventure with me."
