Passengers can also pay extra for checked-in baggage, which is a popular choice for people going on longer holidays, but Ryanair has clear rules for bringing larger suitcases on board. Checked-in bags on Ryanair flights can weigh no more than 10kg or 20kg, depending on the baggage you've booked, and must be dropped off at the airport check-in desks before security. The 20kg bag should be no larger than 80 x 120 x 120 cm, reports Birmingham Live . According to Ryanair's bag policy, anyone who turns up to the boarding gate with their checked-in bag will have to pay an additional charge. The airline's excess baggage fee is up to £11 per extra kilo of luggage. If you don't follow Ryanair's rules, you might not be able to get on your flight. Their policy says: "If you have purchased a check-in bag, you must check this in at the bag drop desk at the airport. "If you bring your check-in bags to the boarding gate, you will have to pay a fee per bag, to place them in the aircraft hold. Checking in online with Ryanair is free, but it costs £55 if you do it at the airport on the day you fly. If you need to change something about your flight online, it will cost £45 for each person for each one-way trip. To change a name online, you'll have to pay £115.
