It’s been a great year for
Netflix so far, with all manner of brilliant films and TV shows landing on the platform. And there’s still more to come as we eagerly await the new series of Bridgerton , Squid Game , The Umbrella Academy , and Emily In
Paris among even more of our returning favourites. But for every new arrival on the streaming platform, more content moves off Netflix
UK to make way for them – much to the anguish of subscribers when their favourite is given the axe. A fresh batch of TV shows and films will be bidding farewell to the service in April, from a gangster classic to a much-loved animated sequel. So if you want to watch any of these you haven’t got long… Robert Rodriguez’s superhero movie might have bombed at the
box office when it was released in 2005 but it has gone on to gain a cult following since then. Taylor Lautner and former child
Actress Taylor Dooley take the lead in this fast-paced story about a lonely 10-year-old boy who creates an imaginary superhero world in his head – only for his creations to come to life. It’ll be flying away from Netflix on April 1 so you’d better be quick if you want to catch it before then. The third instalment of this box office smash , released in 2021, sees Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles as respective real-life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. However, this movie may seem different to the previous two as Ed and Lorraine aren’t on the trail of an evil spirit lurking inside a haunted house, but instead working on a court case that centres around a possession – and a murder. Netflix is spiriting this one away from April 1. Darren Aronofsky’s biblical blockbuster recounts the story of Noah’s Ark, with Russell Crowe as the title character and his former A Beautiful Mind co-star Jennifer Connolly as wife Naameh. Although the film was a box office smash, it also generated controversy at the time of release for alleged environmental political messages and its use of non-biblical sources for inspiration. If you want to make up your own mind about the film you’ve not got long, as it’ll be sailing away from Netflix from April 1. This 80s classic sees Al Pacino in one of his best-known roles as Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee who arrives penniless in Miami and rises through the ranks to become a powerful drug lord. The film, which also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, was initially panned due to its excessive violence and profanity but is now regarded as one of the greatest gangster films ever made, and is certainly worth two hours and fifty minutes of your time. Netflix will be saying goodbye to this little friend from April 1. The belated follow-up to the 90s hit Space Jam sees
LeBron James appear as a fictional version of himself. Some big names in this 2005 romcom, including Will Smith, Kevin James, Eva Mendes and Amber Valletta – with Smith starring as dating coach Alex ‘Hitch’ Hitchens, who makes a successful living teaching men how to land the woman of their dreams. That is until he meets his match, in the shape of a gossip columnist who is resilient to his romantic methods. You’d better hurry if you want a date with this one – like so many others on this list it’s saying goodbye to Netflix on April 1. If you’re in the mood for a buddy movie, this 2014 action
comedy should fit the bill. Kevin Hart plays nervy, geeky security guard Ben Barber, who needs to prove to his girlfriend’s
police officer brother (Ice Cube) that he is worthy of marrying her – but things take a dangerous turn when he is accidentally caught up in the latter’s hunt for an arms dealer. This one will be riding off Netflix on – you guessed it – April 1. The screen adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit stage musical took a long time to get to screens, with plans for the project being shelved in 2008 and not coming to fruition again for another eight years. The film was subsequently shot in 2019, shelved due to the pandemic in 2020 and finally released in 2021. It tells the story of a corner of the
Washington Heights neighbourhood in Upper Manhattan – where every member of the community is aspiring for a better life. It’ll be gone from Netflix from April 8. This hugely acclaimed
British TV drama, which originally aired on the
BBC, ran for two series between 2014 and 2016, with Tcheky Karyo taking the lead as retired French detective Julien Baptiste. The story follows a British couple whose five-year-old son goes missing on a holiday to
France during the 2006
World Cup and is never found – with the case being re-opened eight years later after his dad (James Nesbitt) finds new evidence suggesting he is alive. It’ll be disappearing from Netflix from April 11 so you’d better hurry up and watch it. Got a story?
