Gigi Hadid has confirmed that she and boyfriend Zayn Malik are expecting their first child.
Earlier this week, Gigi and Zayn found themselves at the centre of pregnancy rumours after multiple US news outlets claimed they had a baby on the way.
The supermodel has now confirmed that the reports were true, but that she was disappointed she and the One Direction star weren’t able to make the announcement “on our own terms”.
Speaking to
Jimmy Fallon on his US talk show (via video-link, obviously), Gigi said: “Obviously, we wished we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”
She continued: “Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and be together and really experience it day by day.”
Gigi is currently self-isolating at home with her sister, fellow model Bella Hadid, and Zayn.
Gigi and Zayn first started dating in November 2015, a few months after they ended their relationships with Joe Jonas and Little Mix
Singer Perrie Edwards, respectively.After an on-again, off-again relationship in the years that followed, they reportedly got back together towards the end of last year.
Gigi erased any doubt about those rumours with a sweet
Instagram post about the Like I Would singer to commemorate Valentine’s Day.
