The voice of Peppa Pig has announced she is quitting the role after 13 years.
Peppa Pig Gets A New Voice As Actor Harley Bird Quits Role After 13 Years
Harley Bird landed the role of voicing the hugely popular children’s character when she was just five years old.
But after more than a decade providing the voice of the two-dimensional pig, the 18-year-old is stepping aside to make way for Amelie Bea, nine, to take over the role.Speaking about the news, Harley, who is said to have raked in £1000 an hour for her role, said: “Becoming the voice of Peppa at the age of five was the start of an incredible journey, and I’ll never forget my time on the show.
“The people that work on Peppa Pig have become like a family to me and they’ve given me some unforgettable memories. I wish Amelie the best of luck in the role and am looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life.”
Lily Snowden-Fine was first to voice Peppa when the series debuted in 2004, before Cecily Bloom provided the voice of the character in the second series in 2006.
Before landing the job of providing the voice of Peppa, Amelie starred in EastEnders, where she played Daisy - the adoptive daughter of Ashley and Dan.
The hugely popular, Bafta-winning cartoon follows the adventures of a family of talking pigs and their farmyard animal friends.
Earlier this week it was revealed that the composers of Louise Redknapp’s 90′s hit Naked had been involved in a legal battle with the show’s makers.
The composers of her 1996 number five hit accused the Canadian company Entertainment One of infringing their copyright over the song Peppa’s Party Time, which was released on Peppa Pig: My First Album last July. According to Metro, Entertainment One has since settled with producer Denis Ingoldsby and the song’s authors.
The Mirror claims that they could stand to make £1 million, as they are now entitled to all backdated and future royalties, while their names have also been added to the credits on Peppa’s track. READ MORE: Louise Redknapp Takes Aim At 'Naughty' Peppa Pig After Legal Battle Over Her Track Naked We Can't Decide If This Peppa Pig Makeup Trick Is Genius – Or Slightly Terrifying Bring On Those Muddy Puddles: You Can Now Buy Your Kid Peppa Pig Hunter Wellies
