The marketing campaigns for It, La La Land and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri were among the "grand" winners Thursday night at the Clio Entertainment Awards (formerly the Clio Key Art Awards).
The awards, which were handed out at a ceremony held at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, honor creative communications across the entertainment industry in film, TV, home entertainment and gaming. Jeffrey Tambor hosted the ceremony.
Warner Bros. Pictures' It won the award for best theatrical teaser, while Fox Searchlight's Oscar hopeful Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won the award for best theatrical trailer. Lionsgate's La La Land, which won five Oscars earlier this year, including best actress and director, was named best theatrical integrated campaign.
In the television/streaming categories, FX's American Horror Story was named best integrated campaign, while Amazon's The Man in the High Castle won for both best partnerships and best press/influencer kits and collateral. Viceland also nabbed two grand awards, including best brand identity and best out-of-home campaign. Warners' The Lego Batman Movie nabbed the grand award for best social media campaign in the home entertainment section.
Also honored at the event (The Hollywood Reporter is a partner) for a third year were agency, studio, television network and game publisher "Of the Year" winners. These honors are presented to the advertising agency, film studio, television/streaming network and game publisher that received the most overall Clio Entertainment statue points for entries submitted across all medium types. This year's winners are:
- Agency of the Year: LA – Lindeman & Associates
- Game Publisher of the Year: Microsoft Studios/Xbox
- Studio of the Year: Warner Bros. Pictures
- Television/Streaming Network of the Year: FX Network
"This year, Clio Entertainment experienced 30 percent international growth, a tremendous leap forward for the first season under our new brand name," Clio president Nicole Purcell said. "Our industry is in the midst of great change that will require continued innovation and drive. Clio Entertainment will continue to support creatives and celebrate the great work happening worldwide in marketing across film, TV, gaming and home entertainment."
