Game Of Thrones star Alfie Allen has shrugged off the controversy surrounding the show’s final season, insisting he was “very, very happy” with the way things played out for his character.
The hit fantasy drama aired its eighth and final season earlier this year, but it’s well-documented that some fans – and, indeed, certain cast members – were less than impressed with several decisions made by the writing team.
The Theon Greyjoy actor has now insisted that he’s not one of them, though, telling The Wrap: “Some people weren’t satisfied with how it ended, but it’s the same with a lot of these TV shows.
“But in terms of the arc of Theon, I hope people were happy with it.” Alfie went on to say that he was “thankful” to the show’s executive producers Dan Weiss and David Benioff after watching the Game Of Thrones conclusion, for “giving me that kind of stuff to do”.
On filming his character’s final showdown with The Night King, he added: “It was great… and to be there with Isaac [Hempstead Wright], who was the person I did my first scene with in the first season, was great.
“As soon as I saw that, I was very, very happy. It was a slog, those night shoots, but it was great.”Since the Game Of Thrones finale – and the ensuing fan petition, urging the team to re-write the final season – several cast members have defended it, including Sophie Turner and Nikolaj Coster-Waulder, who was booed at Comic-Con for sticking up for the show.
Lena Headey, on the other hand. has said she was disappointed at the way things turned out for her character, while Natalia Tena recently admitted to “ranting for an hour” after watching the show’s last episode.MORE GAME OF THRONES...
