Soloway, who created the series, is also an exec producer on the streamer's comedy 'I Love Dick.'There's a big change going on behind the scenes at Transparent.
Jill Soloway is stepping down as showrunner on the upcoming fifth season of the Amazon series, and will be succeeded by Jill Gordon, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Soloway will continue to write, direct and exec produce the groundbreaking comedy. However, the news comes as the Emmy winner has begun to split her time between several projects, including the Amazon comedy I Love Dick, which is awaiting word on a second season.
Soloway renewed her overall deal with Amazon Studios, which produces both Transparent and I Love Dick, in May.
Gordon's credits include the NBC medial drama Heartbeat, 90210, My So-Called Life and The Wonder Years, among others.
Transparent, which premieres its fourth season on Sept. 22, was renewed for season five in August.
This is the latest headline out of Amazon, which canceled freshman dramas Z: The Beginning of Everything and The Last Tycoon in recent days, in addition to losing showrunner Clyde Phillips on the legal drama Goliath.
