During his time in a
Boston Celtics uniform, Hall of Fame shooting guard
Ray Allen won his first of two championships in 2008, with the first coming against the Celtics arch-rivals the
Los Angeles Lakers, and beat them in six games. Longtime cornerstone Paul Pierce would take home Finals MVP honors while Allen set the all-time three-point mark when he passed Hall of Fame shooting guard Reggie Miller with 2,562 career threes in the postseason.
Allen was recently a guest on the Scoop B Radio Podcast to discuss another sharpshooter in Golden State Warriors shooting guard
Klay Thompson.
“I’m not impressed with him now because he’s shooting like that,”Allen told Scoop B Radio.
“I’ve always been impressed with him. I always thought that he was one of the best players in the league. He mirrors kind of the way I played.”
Per
Basketball Reference, Thompson is averaging 22.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and shooting 39.6 percent from behind the three-point line per game this season and a tad under his career average of 41.9 percent.
Thompson has gone through shooting slumps this season, most notably against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He finished the game with 14 points on 4-for-20 shots from the field but the Warriors would go on to win by eight points (108-100) on October 16. His struggles would continue during a Christmas Day meeting with the Lakers, as Thompson only scoring five points shooting 2-7 (28.6 percent) from the floor.
According to Basketball Reference, Thompson was steady during February shooting 51.0 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from three.
“He’s shooting the lights out,” said Allen.
