"The Apprentice" producer
Mark Burnett and actor
Tom Arnold got into an apparent scuffle at the Evening Before the
Emmys party Sunday night, but accounts differ on who provoked it.
Arnold and Roma Downey, Burnett's wife, both took to Twitter to share their perspectives.
Arnold is set to host and executive produce a new four-part Viceland series, "The Hunt for the Trump Tapes," launching Tuesday. The first episode centers on Burnett and "The Apprentice" as Arnold seeks outtakes from the reality series that President
Donald Trump hosted. Arnold, ex-husband of presidential supporter Roseanne Barr, is on a quest to find more incriminating videos of the president.
Arnold's lawyer, Marty Singer, told The Hollywood Reporter the altercation was an "unprovoked attack" by Burnett. He also claimed Arnold had a "witness" to corroborate his claims. Arnold tweeted that "Kevin Bacon is a solid reliable brawl witness. Sosie Bacon is a wingman."
Downey, Burnett's wife, tweeted a photo of a bruised hand, claiming she "Got this bruise tonight when Tom Arnold tried to ambush my husband Mark and me at a charity event."
"Is your TV show worth it Tom? Please stop," she added.
Arnold responded: "You lie your crazy husband attacked me you psycho. I'm filing police report & suing you for defamation."
The actor continued with allegations of physical assault against Burnett: "Mark Burnett just went (expletive) & choked me at this huge Emmy party then he ran away with his torn Pink shirt & missing gold chain. I'm waiting for LAPD."
The Los Angeles Police Department told USA TODAY Monday morning it had not received any information about an incident between Burnett and Arnold; no report has been filed.
Arnold tweeted to President Trump Monday afternoon that he was "Sitting in West LAPD filing charges against your best bud Apprentice Outtakes Mark Burnett who lost his mind, attacted & chocked me last nite. Last fight I got into there was with Harvey Weinstein," Arnold continued. "Mark Burnett is scared."
Other celebrities witnessed the altercation but didn't know what to make of it. Actress Alyson Hannigan tweeted: "Walked n2 party behind Tom Arnold and saw him & Mark Burnett get into a fight!Thought it was a joke until security jumped in!"
Actor and comedian Patton Oswalt tweeted a photo with Arnold Sunday night.
"He's okay," Oswalt wrote. "We gotta protect this brutal angel."
Comedian Billy Eichner also shared a photo with Arnold, which he wrote was "right after the fight with Mark Burnett."
"Everyone in LA is shaken," Eichner added.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Burnett, Arnold and Bacon for comment.
