Kanye West took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his support for his "brother,"
President Trump.
"You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him," West tweeted. "We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."
And Trump loved it.
"Thank you Kanye, very cool!" the president replied.
Shortly afterward, West showed off his signed "Make America Great Again" hat.
West often tweets "Kanye-isms" and words of advice on Twitter, many of them celebrating free thinking. Wednesday's comments came during a day-long tweetstorm that ranged from the tech industry to the Grammys.
West also said that he is not a Democrat or Republican, and loves when people have "their own ideas."
West has never had a predictable political agenda: He once went off-script live to say that President George Bush hated black people. He shocked fans in 2016 when he endorsed Trump during a tour stop in San Jose, though he said he did not vote.
West has also previously announced that he will run for president in 2020, something he hinted at on Twitter.
West's wife,
Kim Kardashian, publicly supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. She has also criticized Trump's policies and leadership.
According to West, Kardashian called him after his tweet about Trump. She told him she wanted him to make it clear he does not support everything Trump does.
But Kardashian supported her husband's right to be a "free thinker."
Earlier this week, West stirred up controversy when he tweeted support of Candace Owens, an alt-right commentator and the creator of the Red Black Pill youtube channel. Owens has criticized the Black Lives Matter movement, saying BLM supporters have a "victim mentality."
