Mohamed Salah and
Roberto Firmino fired the goals which ensured
Liverpool shocked
Manchester City to progress to the semi-finals of the
Champions League.
Liverpool took a 3-0 first-leg advantage to the Etihad Stadium but they were up against a forward-heavy City team.
The Blues took just 123 seconds to pull a goal back as Gabriel Jesus converted Raheem Sterling’s low cross to give Pep Guardiola’s side hope of a comeback.
The opening exchanges were heating as six yellow cards were dished out before Guardiola was sent off at half-time.
The City boss was remonstrating with the referee after he incorrectly disallowed Leroy Sane’s goal just before the break.
The decision changed to complexion of the game and Salah all-but wrapped up the tie as he cooly dinked to ball into the net on the 56th minute.
Firmino secured the Reds’ place in the semi-final draw as he netted the winner 13 minutes from time.
