cancer. His death left the world of Country
music devastated. The late 13-time winner's three children — Shelley Covel Rowland, Krystal Keith and Stelen Keith Covel — were in attendance at this year's ceremony in Austin,
Texas, which marked the first since their dad's death. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, they made the sweet confession about their dad's successor. When asked which new artists they think are upholding his legacy, Krystal said: "For me personally, I'm excited by Jelly Roll. He's someone I met back in 2018 before he really launched so every time he has a big hit, I'm excited for him." She added: "I think it's really cool what Lainey Wilson has done recently and being a female in this industry is incredibly hard." Stelen echoed Krystal's thoughts and added: "Yeah, Jelly Roll's got a great story. I didn't know a lot about him until the beginning of this year and then I saw him explode and really fell in love with his music. I saw his tribute he did to our father at his show and I thought it was really special. I think he did a really great
Job and that meant a lot to us." Toby was honored at the event with a tribute performance featuring Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson and Sammy Hagar. Members of Toby's band will also take part, as too will Luka Nelson and Roger Clemens. Jelly Roll, who was nominated for three awards at this year's ceremony, also was on hand to get the crowd on their feet with his performance. He was attending the event with his wife Bunnie XO, but disaster almost struck on their way to the event when their private plane had to make an emergency landing. Explaining the events, the
Singer said to E! News: "What happened was the screen cut out. "The pilot was like, 'I'm not even risking this.' He had to manually fly the plane back. He had to fly like it was the 1960s again.
