Time to start the work week, but before you actually sit down and do any actual work, open up your brain and play some Strands with me here. I would say this is an easier one today, but we’ll see what you make of it. How To Play Strands The
New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a play on the classic word search. It’s in beta for now, which means it’ll only stick around if enough people play it every day. There’s a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you’ll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue. You’ll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links two opposite sides of the board. While the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. When you find the spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow. Be warned: You’ll need to be on your toes. Sometimes you’ll need to fill the missing word(s) in a phrase. On other days, the game may revolve around synonyms or homophones. Now we get into hints and answers, so you are going to want to scroll slow if you don’t want to get all the way down to solutions. We have the official hint for today which is: It goes by fast And then I can do my own hint which I will present in video form. What Are Today’s Strands Answers? We will start with the puzzle-spanning spangram and then move on to the actual answers to the puzzle in full. Pun intended. SECOND MINUTE HOUR WEEK MONTH DECADE CENTURY Strands As you can see they skipped a few in there like YEAR, but you run out of space eventually I guess. I had the most trouble getting the spangram here as it doesn’t quite fit with the others. TIMEPIECES makes it sound like it’s going to be watch brands or something. I don’t actually think they do brands in these like ever, but I may be wrong. As for the rest of it? Once you get one or two of these, it’s pretty easy to understand what they’re going for. I got WEEK and MINUTE and the rest was kind of history after that, even if I looked for year and that never actually arrived.
