Actress, 41, spoke to People about the “difficult” past two years that have left her with speech and mobility issues, saying it “hasn’t been easy.” Paquin spoke to the outlet while appearing at the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo to promote “A Bit of Light,” an indie drama directed by her husband and former , Stephen Moyer. The did not further detail what has been ailing her, but an insider told People they were optimistic that Paquin will fully recover. In “A Bit of Light,” stars as an alcoholic mother forced to reckon with life after losing custody of her kids. “Not everyone ends up having the journey with motherhood that they have hoped or had planned,” Paquin told the outlet. “We’re all flawed and imperfect, and Ella is kind of on some level repeating some sort of familial patterns as far as stuffing feelings down.” Paquin said she viewed the role as “very relatable” due to the “many ways that people can get in their own way, or sort of learn to cope with trauma.” Paquin is mom to the 11-year-old fraternal twins she shares with 54-year-old Moyer, , and is stepmom to Moyer’s kids Billy and Lilac from previous relationships. “[Stephen and I] like what we do and we met doing the thing that we like, so interspersing our work lives wasn’t ever going to be a weird thing because that’s [how] we met,” Paquin, who married , told People of their love story.
