When healthy, Joel Embiid is an absolute force to be reckoned with on the court. But after dealing with a torn meniscus in his knee, an injury that sidelines him for around two months, the Philadelphia 76ers star has made his way back to the lineup. In a recent game between the 76ers and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Wells Fargo Center, the former went home with the 109-105 win . Kelly Oubre Jr. led Philly with 25 points and six rebounds while Cameron Payne had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. In particular, Embiid had a huge return to help Philadelphia get the win. In a game without All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey , the Process came up big by dropping 24 points, six rebounds, and seven rebounds. In contrast, he committed six turnovers and four fouls in 29 minutes on the court. The win solidified Philadelphia’s hold on the eighth seed in the East with a 41-35 record, giving them enough breathing room against the ninth-seed
Chicago Bulls. The loss, however, dropped a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-led OKC team to a tie with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the second spot in the Western Conference. Philadelphia 76ers Star Joel Embiid Shares Mental Toll of Injury Absence After spending around two months recovering from his injury, Embiid opened up and shared what the process has been like for him. In a post shared by Zach Ciavolella on X : Joel Embiid on his recent recovery: “…this one, it took a toll mentally, being depressed. It was not a good one… it’s still not where I’m supposed to be, especially mentally, but I just love
basketball, and I want to play… any chance that I can be out there I’m gonna take,” Ciavolella tweeted. Embiid has only played a total of 35 games this season . During that period, the 76ers’ All-Star center posted averages of 35.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. Embiid’s return comes at the best time for the 76ers.
