The Velox Mini Qi2 charger offers seamless installation and compact design for secure phone mounting and reliable charging on road trips, accommodating various
iPhone models with its versatile ball joint for optimal viewing angles. Despite cable management challenges, its built-in design ensures consistent charging speeds, making it a reliable choice for on-the-go phone charging needs. A couple of years ago I reviewed the and it’s been in my car ever since. I’ve found that it’s the easiest way to keep my phone charged while connected to AirPlay when I travel. In January, iOttie released new and improved wireless car chargers and I don’t remember when I was so excited to upgrade a charger. The Velox Mini Qi2 is a compact and discrete wireless charging air vent mount that keeps your phone secure and powered while you are on the move. Crafted with a series of built-in ventilation holes, it efficiently dissipates heat generated during wireless charging sessions. Plus, its versatile ball joint offers a full 360° rotation for effortless adjustment of your viewing angle. Experience the compact but robust design of the Velox Mini Qi2, engineered with Qi2 technology for a strong magnetic grip and rapid wireless charging capabilities. Tailored exclusively for Qi2-enabled devices, including MagSafe-compatible iPhones and cases, it delivers an impressive 15W of power. Simply tap your device against the mount face, and let the powerful magnets securely hold it in perfect alignment. Installing the Velox Mini Qi2 is a breeze – just slide the prongs onto your vehicle’s air vent blade, where silicone grips ensure a snug fit. With its adaptable ball joint, you can easily position the cradle for optimal visibility while driving. The strategically placed ventilation holes ensure efficient heat dissipation and maintain airflow, all packaged in a sleek carbon black finish. The Velox Mini Qi2 has a list price of $54.95 on . The charger is also available on for $49.95. Please note that at the time of publishing, there are no additional colors of the charger available of this model. The is available in Midnight Blue and Astral Gray but that version isn’t Qi2-certified. The Velox Mini Qi2 charger has been a joy to use. I installed it in the same location as the previous iOttie charger and started using it immediately for a short road trip. While on the trip, I didn’t have any issues with the phone slipping off the mount or not gaining a charge. I’ve used the charger with an iPhone 14 Pro and an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Aside from the charging power, the two things I like the most about this charger are: When it comes to the installation, all you have to do is slip it between the vent slots and the grips hold onto the vent securely. There aren’t any complicated latches to work with or suction mounts like some other car chargers. You just slide it into place, plug it in, and you are good to go. The smaller form factor means that when your phone is on it, the charger is essentially invisible. Since the mount is based on a ball joint you can adjust the viewing angle quite easily and you can even place the phone in landscape mode instead of just portrait. The only downside to this charger is having to route and hide the cable. Thankfully, iOttie includes a long enough cable to be able to stash it nearly anywhere. The cable is built-in which is great for consistent speed, but it also means that you can’t detach the cable if you just want to use the mount as a mount and not a charger. There are, of course, some vents types that are not compatible with the Velox Mini Qi2 charger. I’ve included an image below from iOttie’s website that outlines the different types of vents that work and don’t work. The Velox Mini Qi2 charger impresses with its seamless installation and compact design, ensuring secure phone mounting and reliable charging during road trips. Its versatility accommodates various iPhone models without issues, and the ball joint allows easy adjustment for optimal viewing angles. Although hiding the cable may pose a challenge, the included long cable offers flexibility, while the built-in design ensures consistent charging speeds. Despite minor drawbacks, the Velox Mini Qi2 remains a reliable and functional choice for on-the-go phone charging needs. For more information, visit .
