British teatime programme. It turns out, the 38-year-old let herself be distracted by word puzzles on Countdown as she loved the show ‘more than I loved that person’. Discussing saying inappropriate things in the middle of sex on her
BBC podcast Miss Me? with longtime friend Miquita Oliver, the chart-topping
Singer and
Actress admitted: ‘Once I was having sex with someone and Countdown was on in the background.’ ‘I got an eight-letter word in my head and shouted it out,’ she added, much to Miquita’s shock. Her presenter pal – who has known Lily since birth – was initially disbelieving, before asking Lily: ‘Do you remember the word?’ ‘No. We could make one up?’ the Smile hitmaker suggested as she confirmed it wasn’t one of the conundrums, but a word made up from letters selected by a contestant. ‘No, it was a spelled it out [sic], I was like,’ recalled Lily, making a face implying sudden inspiration. Miquita then asked the question on everyone’s minds as she pondered: ‘How bad was that sex, if you were playing Countdown?’ But for Lily, it was more that her love for the show eclipsed the current situation she was in. ‘I loved Countdown. More than I loved that person,’ she laughed. Countdown has been running on Channel 4 since 1982 , and was originally presented by the late Richard Whiteley with maths whizz Carol Vorderman . It is now presented by Colin Murray and Rachel Riley . Lily, who is currently married to Stranger Things
Actor David Harbour, 48, didn’t reveal the identity of her lover during that particular encounter. She had promoted the episode, which came out on Monday, with a tongue-in-cheek post on X, writing: ‘It’s Easter Monday and nobody is at work to approve our clip, so this will have to do for now. Paris Hilton finally responds to concerns she never shows daughter Eighties pop icon, 57, makes rare appearance with husband 34 years after big hit ‘LISTEN B***H is up and the theme is VIRGINITY and it’s a corker and also quite bleak, if you’re me.’ The mum-of-two previously warned that ‘you can’t have it all’ as she claimed that having her daughters ‘totally ruined’ her pop career . Lily said she prioritised raising her girls, Ethel Mary, 11, and nine-year-old Marnie Rose – who she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper, 45 – over chasing
music stardom at any cost. Discussing how having children affected her career choices, Allen revealed: ‘I never really had a strategy when it comes to career, but yes, my children ruined my career.’ ‘I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop-stardom, they totally ruined it,’ she added, telling the Radio Times Podcast that parenting and a pop career ‘does not mix’. ‘It really annoys me when people say you can have it all because, quite frankly, you can’t,’ the mum continued. ‘Some people choose their career over their children and that’s their prerogative, but my parents were quite absent when I was a kid. ‘I feel like that really left some nasty scars that I’m not willing to repeat on mine. I chose stepping back and concentrating on them and I’m glad that I’ve done that because I think they’re pretty well rounded people.’ The Fear hitmaker, who is the daughter of actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen, remembered being left outside when her parents would go out for a meal. She had a string of hits in the 2000s and 2010s, including debut single Smile – which reached number one – Oh My God, Not Fair and her cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know . The star stopped making music after the release of her 2018 album No Shame, which detailed her marriage breakdown and substance abuse issues. She has since found a new creative outlet in acting and made her West End debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story, for which she received a prestigious Olivier Award nomination. Lily has also starred in a stage production of The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh and appeared on television in Dreamland. Got a story?
