The
New York Jets are reportedly open to trading their No. 10 draft pick this year as they continue to build around veteran quarterback . were devastated when of the 2023 NFL season, just for the team. It ruined an entire offseason of work as the organization then struggled, rotating quarterbacks , Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian to little success. With Rodgers now 40 and entering the second year of his , the Jets are aware that this season is their best chance of success. The Jets don't need a quarterback this year, and Rodgers has claimed , theoretically removing the need to draft a future starter in the . Therefore, has reported that the Jets are exploring trade options with teams that currently hold a lower pick and need quarterback options. Although top projected picks such as , , and J.J. McCarthy will likely be selected within the first nine picks, it's still a valuable trade for teams seeking a starter. Behind the Jets in the 2024 NFL Draft order are the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and
Las Vegas Raiders, who are with a varying degree of desperation. The Vikings need a replacement for Kirk Cousins but did sign Sam Darnold to a one-year deal worth $10 million. The Broncos rarely select a quarterback in the opening round, but Denver general manager George Paton confirmed at the NFL Combine that head coach Sean Payton is looking for a quarterback. The Broncos currently have Jarrett Stidham as their primary option after a messy contractual situation led to Russell Wilson's exit. The Raiders are also undecided, as they said goodbye to Jimmy Garoppolo after just one season as he moved to the
Los Angeles Rams. Garoppolo was benched for rookie Aidan O'Connell last season, and head coach Antonio Pierce is yet to decide his next steps. But the Jets are open to offers from either team, as they look to acquire extra draft picks, including one in the second round. As part of the Rodgers trade the Jets lost their second-round pick to the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings have two picks in the first round, after acquiring the No. 23 selection from the Houston Texans. Given their current possession of the No. 11 pick, should they trade for No. 10 they could have back-to-back selections which is a luxury position to be in. The Vikings don't hold any second or third-round picks though, with their third selection at the start of the fourth round (108th overall). The Jets will await to see what proposals come their way, but with additions on the offensive line, at wide receiver, and safety on their minds forfeiting No. 10 for extra picks may be the solution.
