American TV star Adam Richman's love of food is well known thanks to his exploits with global hit series Man V Food. But his latest TV odyssey is seeing him explore the best of
British food . So naturally that included a stop off in Manchester this week. And it just had to be the national dish he tried here - fish and chips. But rather than a traditional chippy he headed instead to the city's acclaimed Hip Hop Chip Shop which offers some new spins on the fry up. READ MORE: "People travel for miles to spend a day on the Guinness here" He posted some mouth-watering photos of his chippy tea on X and Instagram, much to the delight of his fans. Although his food choices naturally sparked something of a debate too. He captioned the photos saying simply: "Fish and chips, anyone?". Sporting a flat cap, he showed off his fodder in a series of smiling poses. His visit delighted Hip Hop Chip Shop's owners who replied to his post: "Thanks for coming, really appreciate the support!" However some followers were quick to question why there was not tartare sauce with the dish - or Hip Hop Chippy's famous curry sauce. In the picture it showed a mountain of fried fish and chips with a pot of mushy peas. On X @Telsway said: "Where's the tartare sauce Adam and 2... yes two slices of Warburtons?" Also lacking tartare and curry sauce, plus 2 slices of bread and butter for separate chip and fish sandwiches." Although Adam was able to clear that one up fairly swiftly - replying to fans that both tartare and curry sauce were "on the side" and out of shot. Others who are not familiar with the Hip Hop Chip Shop style questioned why the chips looked so crispy. @AdamSalford said: "Chips look terrible. Batter looks like I'd break my teeth on it." On

BBC Breakfast last week to talk about the show, and shared some of the other Greater Manchester highlights we can expect to see. At the weekend he showed off photos of TWO portions of salt and pepper chips he found on a visit to
Liverpool as well. He said that he had filmed at Bury Market, as well as heading to Ancoats' Flat Baker. He told BBC Breakfast: "Ultimately it's the story of food, the language of food. If I meet someone from Liverpool and talk about Scouse or salt and pepper chicken, or if I meet someone from Bury and tell them 'Oh I filmed at the market and had black pudding there'. "I was just meeting some people here at this studio and saying "oh you live in Ancoats have you been to the Flat Baker we've filmed there". He added: "I think that to be fair British food is often unfairly maligned and I think that's because it's often misunderstood. All of the highways and byways just have a breathtaking culinary story to them." The Hip Hop Chippy has been regularly winning awards since opening as a mobile van concept over 10 years ago. It now boasts permanent sites in Ancoats and the latest to open at New Century, as well as a pop up at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.
