A mum has admitted causing the death of her one-year-old daughter. Kelsey Harrison, 25, pleaded guilty at a pre-trial hearing to the manslaughter of Elaina Rose Aziz. She appeared alongside the child's father, Eddo Aziz, 37. They both pleaded guilty to a charge of child cruelty to a person under 16 between 21 July, 2019, and August 6, 2020, at Birmingham Crown Court . Elaina was reported to have gone into cardiac arrest at a property in Top Knot Close, Nuneaton, on August 6, 2020. She was rushed to hospital where she sadly later died and
police launched a probe, reports Birmingham Live . Sentence was adjourned for both defendants until May 2, which was the date they would have been due to face trial at Warwick Crown Court in Leamington had they not entered guilty pleas. The court heard that both of them had submitted bases of plea. Jennifer Knight KC, prosecuting, said there were some elements that were disputed, telling the court: "We would not accept, for example, that conditions in the house slipped on occasions. The Crown would put it rather higher than that." Judge Melbourne Inman KC said: "I direct that the prosecution set out in writing what they accept in the bases of plea from each defendant and if there is any dispute and whether it is a matter that requires litigation." He remanded both Harrison and Aziz in custody. She was beautiful inside and out, with her bouncy soft curls in her masses of hair and the longest of eyelashes. "Her smile was enough to melt anyone’s heart, and her giggle was so infectious. She will forever be in our hearts and minds and will travel with us wherever we may venture until we meet again. Goodnight baby girl."
