
In Andrea Kozil’s letter, “ March 14), one thing she fails to mention is that there is currently a ballot initiative collecting signatures for 2024 that would criminalize hunting and fishing in the state of Oregon. If is passed, we would no longer be able to go crabbing, dig for razor clams on the coast or fly fishing on the Deschutes or McKenzie rivers as well as any other number of outdoor pursuits Oregonians love. is attempting to protect the right to hunt and fish, not only as outdoor recreational activities, but the ability to source local, organic food from Oregon’s wild outdoors. Kozil cites the statistics of those who take part in these activities as a low percentage of the population. Why should it matter how many or how few people participate when the ability to enjoy these activities is being threatened?
