Government ready to act ‘if required’ after calls for inquiry in wake of incident at Spurs

Downing Street has said the football authorities need to do more to tackle
racism in the game after calls for a government inquiry and more comprehensive
sanctions in response to an alleged racist incident during a match between
Tottenham Hotspur and
Chelsea on Sunday.
Boris Johnson’s official spokesman said the government was monitoring the authorities’ response and was ready to take further steps “if required”.
