(Bloomberg) -- Danish
police have detained about 20 people suspected of planning a terrorist attack in the country. The suspects had “both the intention and the capacity” to conduct a terrorist attack, Flemming Drejer, chief police inspector and operational head of the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, told reporters on Wednesday. The comments followed a statement by police earlier in the day warning the public that officers were mobilizing across the country amid concern that “a terrorist attack with a militant, Islamist motive” was being planned.Multiple police raids uncovered materials used in explosives and
fire arms. It’s still unclear what the target of any attack might have been.(Adds comments from press conference)To contact the reporters on this story: Christian Wienberg in Copenhagen at cwienberg@bloomberg.net;Morten Buttler in Copenhagen at mbuttler@bloomberg.netTo contact the editor responsible for this story: Tasneem Hanfi Brögger at tbrogger@bloomberg.netFor more articles like this, please visit us at bloomberg.com©2019 Bloomberg L.P.
