MIPCOM: Nominations for International Emmy Kids Span 16 Countries

Kids programing from Japan to Brazil will compete for the 2018 International Emmy Kids Award in Cannes on April 10.
Children's programming from some 16 countries picked up nominations for the 2018 International Emmy Kids Award, marking one of the most globally diverse lineups ever for the TV honor.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced nominees in seven categories at a press conference at TV trade fair MIPCOM on Monday. The awards will be handed out at sister event MIPTV in Cannes on April 10.
While certain countries, in particular the United Kingdom, have dominated nominations in the past, the 2018 selection features shows from Brazil to Japan, Ireland to Argentina. Big media companies are represented —Netflix Ireland picked up a nomination in the category of best preschool program for its animated series Puffin Rock, Disney nabbed a nonscripted entertainment nom for its South African show Disney Cookabout — as well as smaller independents, like Screen Yorkshire’s Hank Zipzer’s Christmas Catastrophe, a nominee in the best TV movie or miniseries category, and Snapshots from Canada's Forte Entertainment, a nonscripted entertainment nominee.
