Julia Roberts Reenacts Her Film Career With the Help of James Corden

The Academy-Award winner and late-night host relived some of the actress' greatest roles.

On Wednesday’s (Oct. 4) episode of The Late Late Show, Julia Roberts stopped by and reenacted some of her most iconic film roles with the help of James Corden. The host and actress crammed a number of snippets from her impressive filmography of more than 50 movies into a 9-minute sketch.
The two first took on Roberts’ turn in Notting Hill as Anna Scott, a successful actress commonly dubbed "America’s Sweetheart."  Corden played the role of Will Thacker, an independent bookstore owner originally portrayed by Hugh Grant. Roberts wrapped up the snippet by paying homage the film’s most famous line and recited, “I’m also just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her.”
Other film reenactments that followed included scenes from Mona Lisa Smile, Larry Crowne, Runaway Bride, Steel Magnolias, Eat Pray Love and Closer.
Roberts revived her role as hooker Vivian Ward from the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman during the scene when she returns to a boutique that refused to sell her any merchandise a day before. Corden played the snobby retail worker that refused to help her. Clad in a new ensemble, Robert told Corden, “Big mistake. Big, huge! I have to go shopping now.”

The two then reenacted scenes from films like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Stepmom, Mirror, Mirror, Flatliners, Hook, Charlotte’s Web and Erin Brockovich. They also managed to sneak in a promotion for the her upcoming film Wonder.

Corden stole the sketch as a modern day George Clooney in the pair’s reenactment of Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve. When Corden entered the screen with two baby dolls attached to his chest and a bottle of tequila in one hand with a cup of coffee in the other, Roberts asked, “What are you doing?” He responded, “I’m being George Clooney,” as he pointed out his props.
The sketch came to an end with a reenactment of My Best Friend’s Wedding. Roberts got back into character as Julianne Potter and admitted her feelings for her best friend who is about to marry another woman. Corden then brought out a microphone and began to sing “I Say a Little Prayer (For You),” which was crooned by Rupert Everett’s character in the film during a dinner scene. Roberts then grabbed a microphone and joined in on the sing-a-long as confetti began to fall.

Mary Trump 'energized' as uncle 'Donald's campaign spirals into chaos'
Mar 29, 2024
Donald Trump's campaign is in chaos, and his niece says she's energized.Mary Trump, the niece of the former president and a psychologist by trade, has previously been critical of her uncle. On Thursday, she said her uncle's failures are adding up.ALSO READ: A neuroscientist reveals how Trump and Biden's cognitive impairments are different"As the RNC’s fundraising falters and Donald’s campaign spirals into chaos, I am energized!" she said in a Substack post. She then continued:"When Donald dominates the news cycle, it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed. Every bad headline has a negative impact. But then I remember something crucial: There’s usually more to the story than meets the eye. I’m determined to cut through the media noise and share with you all the good that happened this week. These are the headlines we need to remain energized and hopeful that the media largely ignored."Mary Trump goes on to highlight President Joe Biden's recent fundraising hauls."President Biden’s $155 million+ war chest has just received another turbo boost, bringing the total of cash on hand to at least $180 million. (By comparison, between his campaign and the RNC, Donald barely has over $50 million — and continues to drain the accounts to cover his absolutely staggering legal expenses)," she wrote. "This is a development that could significantly increase Biden’s ability to influence the narrative in crucial swing states."This, she says, also tells us a lot about voter excitement for Biden."While critics have expressed doubts about the degree to which the Democratic base is fired up as compared to 2020, today’s $25 million fundraiser, raised with donations ranging from $250 to $500,000, should put any doubts to rest — yes, we are absolutely behind President Biden and Vice President Harris and we’re in this fight until the end," she wrote.Read the full post here.
