Canada announced on Monday night it was removing the families of its diplomats from Cuba after some may have suffered brain injuries as a result of suspected "sonic attacks".
Canada withdraws diplomats families from Cuba over mystery illness
The symptoms, which included dizziness, headaches, nausea, and loss of balance were found in 10 Canadian personnel and their relatives, some of whom were children.
In September the United States ordered more than half its government personnel out of Cuba, and warned Americans against visiting the country.
It said there had been "specific attacks" on diplomats, including in hotels.
The symptoms among US diplomats, similar to those experienced by the Canadians, initially led investigators to suspect use of a "sonic weapon," but there has been no proof that was the cause.

According to a Canadian official in Ottawa it has now deemed Cuba an "unaccompanied post" so families will not go with diplomats when they are posted there.
The official said medical testing of those who were ill showed they may have suffered a "new type of possible acquired brain injury". Canada had conducted a year-long investigation, but said there was still "ongoing uncertainty" over the cause of the ailments.
In a statement it said: "The cause remains unknown but could be human-made."
It also said a sonic attack was "now considered unlikely".
Tests of Canadian diplomatic staff quarters, including air and water analysis, "did not indicate anything that could point to a cause," the country's government said.
The most recent incident was in December. One of the Canadians affected described feeling pressure in their head.
US officials in Cuba, and their families, started describing unexplained health problems like hearing loss well over a year ago.
At least 24 people from the US were involved between November 2016 to August 2017.
The US State Department expelled 17 Cuban diplomats from its Washington embassy last year after the incidents came to light.
At the time Rex Tillerson, the former US State Secretary of State, said the symptoms resulted from "targeted attacks" but not who may have been behind them.
Cuba has called allegations of sonic attacks "political manipulation" aimed at undermining US-Cuban relations.
