Kim Kardashian’s social media rallying cry for the American students marching against gun violence has come under scrutiny over an apparent
photoshop faux pas as she attended the rally.
The reality TV personality was among a number of stars who joined hundreds of thousands of anti-gun protesters at the
March for Our Lives protest in Washington this weekend.
Sharing the photo with her 109 million Instagram followers before the march, the 37-year-old posted “Let’s March!”, however many of the comments from fans suggested the image had been photoshopped to make her look thinner.
A squashed car in the background of the photo and a bend in the kerb, which appears straight in the original, were among the giveaway signs highlighted by social media users
“Only Kim would use a demonstration to promote herself. Photoshop fail…” wrote Elizabeth Yorkshire.
“Ready to march but 1st take a pic, make herself look thin while ignoring the physics of shrinking a vehicle. No shame.”
“What happened with the car in the back?” questioned one. “This is obviously edited,” posted another critic.
The mother-of-three attended the march with her husband,
Kanye West, and daughter North, captioning a photo of the pair: “I’m so happy I got to share this moment with these two. I hope North remembers this forever.”
She added: “We stand in solidarity with the survivors of gun violence & students who are calling for action on common sense gun safety laws at #MarchForOurLives around the country.”
The social media influencer also shared a post from her sister Kourtney Kardashian, who wrote: “Today we stand with the survivors of gun violence and student activists who are calling for action on common sense gun safety laws at #MarchForOurLives around the country! This is the beginning of a safer future.”
It’s not the first photoshop controversy involving the Kardashian siblings, in January fans criticised a Calvin Klein advert they featured in, speculating the image had been manipulated.
Paul McCartney, George and Amal Clooney, Common, Miley Cyrus, and Amy Schumer also attended the gun-reform rallies organised by survivors of the shooting at the Florida school where 17 people were killed last month.
