It's been ten years since Peaches Geldof died and the late star adored her mum, Paula Yates , who passed years earlier in tragically similar circumstances. The bubbly Big Breakfast star died in 2000, aged 41, after a heroin overdose - 14 years before Peaches' own life was cut tragically short. The mum-of-two, who also died from an overdose aged just 25 , never got over losing Paula, who was herself heartbroken when her partner, INXS star Michael Hutchence, died by suicide in 1997, aged 37. Peaches even shared a heartbreaking final photo of herself as a child with her mum before she was found dead at her home in Kent in 2014. Speaking about her love of her mother, Peaches told the Daily Mail : "My mother, who was amazing, who wrote books on parenting, who gave us this idyllic childhood in Kent… turned into this heartbroken shell of a woman who was just medicating to get through the day." She added: "On top of that, there was my father, who was very embittered and depressed about it." Paula dies after heroin overdose Peaches was only 11 years old when Paula died from a heroin overdose in September 2000 on her third daughter Pixie's 10th birthday. The coroner ruled that the tragedy was not a suicide, but a result of "foolish and incautious" behaviour. Tragically, Paula was discovered in the presence of her then-four-year-old daughter, Tiger Lily. It would, Peaches later remarked, be several years until she was properly able to come to terms with the loss, revealing: "I remember the day my mother died, and it’s still hard to talk about it," she told Elle magazine . "I just blocked it out. I went to school the next day, because my father’s mentality was, 'Keep calm and carry on'. So we all went to school and tried to act as if nothing had happened. I didn’t cry at her funeral. I couldn’t express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn’t start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16." It is perhaps little wonder that Peaches would go on to have a difficult adolescence. After Paula’s death, she began drinking alcohol and experimenting with drugs, much to her Bob's horror. "Yeah, I’ve taken drugs. Yes, I’ve had experiences, and a few of those experiences were unsavoury, not ones I want to repeat, but I was growing up,’ she told the Spectator before adding: "I wanted the experience." Peaches says Paula is 'living through her all the time' In a tragic final interview, Peaches claimed it was only after she became a mum to sons Astala and Phaedra in 2012 and 2013, that she came to terms with the loss of Paula. Speaking to Aga Living magazine, published in the Sunday Times , the young mum said she felt her TV presenter mother was "living through me all the time because we are just so similar". Explaining that her sons had allowed her to achieve a new understanding of the world, she said: "I'm not sure I've yet fully made peace with my childhood, but with my mum I have come to terms with everything." However, just months later, the Geldof family was rocked by another tragedy, when history appeared to have repeated itself... It would, heartbreakingly, be the last thing she posted as just hours later, the mum-of-two was found dead at her home in Wrotham, Kent. The

The model's widower, singer Thomas Cohen, said he would do whatever it took to protect their young sons and later gave an update about the couple's children three years after Peaches' death. Speaking to German newspaper, Bild, he said: “They have lived longer than they knew their mother. They were just one and two. Now they are four and five. I want them to be happy, I don’t care what they end up doing.
