Bronny James - the son of legend - is declaring for the 2024
NBA Draft. The 19-year-old is a freshman for the University of Southern
California (USC) as alongside his NBA declaration, he's entering NCAA transfer portal to maintain flexibility. The combo guard will work out for and visit numerous NBA teams and make a draft decision based on evaluation just nine months after he suffered a shock cardiac arrest. The teenager suffered the cardiac arrest during training but has since made his return to college
basketball where he could potentially continue his career due to the flexibility of his eligibility. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski posted on X (formerly Twitter): "In the aftermath of his cardiac arrest and heart procedure last summer, James will need to be evaluated and approved by the NBA’s Fitness to Play Panel before he can become eligible to participate in team workouts, the Draft Combine in May or be selected in the June draft". Doctors determined the "probable cause" of the cardiac arrest was "an anatomically and functionally significant Congenital Heart Defect which can and will be treated". Bronny was forced out of action for almost five months before he made his return to the basketball court last December. LeBron, 39, is in 21st season and remains one of the best players in the world as he's made no qualms about his intention on playing either with his son or against him. "I need to be on the floor with my boy," he told
ESPN in January 2023. "I got to be on the floor with Bronny. Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him…I don’t mean like guarding one another all game – because he’s a point guard and I’m a – at this point now I’m playing center or whatever the team needs from me. "But I would love to do the whole Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. thing. That would be ideal for sure."
