A MasterChef contestant had viewers stunned with their similar looks to a former Prime Minister. The
BBC cooking competition returned on Wednesday night, as the six stars took part in the second heat of the 2024 series. One of those taking part was Louise, a 43-year-old from Somerset. She cooked up a honey and crème fraiche Panna cotta with lavender crumbled biscuit and blueberry compote. Louise served her dish to former finalists Jane Devonshire, Ping Coombes and Irini Tzortzoglou. However, many fans were left distracted as they noticed Louise looked similar to former Prime Minister Liz Truss . One viewer said: "Pretty sure that's Liz Truss." Another added: "Louise reminds me simultaneously of Alison Steadman and Liz Truss," while someone else branded Louise a "Liz Truss clone". Friends and family have been badgering me to apply for MasterChef. The reason I applied this year was that I had just had my five-year cancer-versary. "I was diagnosed when my daughter was 18 months old and our world imploded. My diagnosis and intense treatment took a long time to come to terms with and changed me. A positive change was to try to embrace all of life’s opportunities fully; not to say ‘no’ to scary things or to allow the myriad nasty side effects that I live with each day to stop me from having adventures. And so, I had to apply, and I am enormously glad I did." Louise was announced as a quarter finalist by John Torode, as she is joined by Olivia and Jerome. MasterChef hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace have kicked off the 20th series of the hit cooking show and recently spoke about potentially bowing out of the long-running program. "Who would we leave it to? Don't be ridiculous", John, 58, scoffed. Where are you going to find two attractive people, one with hair, the other without, anywhere like that? There's no way!" The celebrity chef then admitted to Bella magazine there would only be one way for him to leave MasterChef - and it could be a while before he bows out: "I think to get me out of place, they're going to have to push me out the door or blend my food to get me to taste it. That's when I'll be leaving." During the eight weeks of the competition, the hosts will be joined by a string of guests judges including former MasterChef winners as well as chef Niklas Ekstedt .
