Former This Morning host Fern Britton is reportedly preparing to return to television following her successful stint on Celebrity Big Brother. The 66-year-old took a break from the spotlight for several years but made a surprise appearance on the reality show last month. Fern, who moved to Cornwall in 2020, is expected to once again become a regular face on screen, something that has been dubbed as her "ultimate revenge" against Phillip Schofield. Fern and Phillip infamously had a falling out while co-presenting This Morning, which culminated in Fern leaving the show in 2009. The two have yet to reveal the true reason behind their feud. According to an insider who spoke to Bella magazine, Fern is reportedly planning a "big TV comeback". They said: "She's desperate to do her own chat show and is already in talks with TV networks. Celebrity Big Brother has done her the world of good. The public forgot how likeable she is, but the show has given her that new lease of life." They added: "It's no secret she was treated badly before, and it put her off doing TV again, but now she feels ready to be back on screens. She's warm, caring and fun all the things TV producers look for in a host. Now Phillip isn't in the picture any more, she can get her ultimate revenge and be a success on TV once again! ". Fern used to present This Morning with Phillip from 1999 to 2009 and then was replaced by Holly Willoughby. In his 2020 book, Life is What You Make It, Phil spoke about his rift with Fern. He remembered an argument with her which he believed was the last straw for the pair. He said they argued about what was on the show and was shocked when Fern accused him of "meddling". He wrote: "I walked back into the makeup room and calmly said, 'Please don't do that to me again.' I think, for whatever reason, that was the point that Fern decided she didn't want to do This Morning anymore." On CBB, Fern talked about her time on the show and what happened to Phil's career recently. Phillip, who grew up in , where his mum still lives, left This Morning in May 2023 after he admitted to an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger colleague. He was then dropped by his agent and kept a low profile since.
