fans have been left gutted after the soap confirmed it is “parting ways” with a familiar place on cobbles. Back in 2018, retail chain the Co-op first opened its doors on the soap set. At the time, it was dubbed one of the biggest product placement partnerships on
British TV. Coffee shop Costa also appeared alongside the convenience store on the famous street. In 2021 though, Costa Coffee left Weatherfield and was replaced with the phone shop EE and then with Hays Travel. And now, the much-loved characters on the show will no longer be able to do their shop at Co-op anymore. The soap has recently confirmed that the chain will be exiting from the cobbles. In a post on the Corrie
Facebook page, the soap revealed: "After six incredible years, @coopuk and are parting ways. Since 2018, the Weatherfield Co-op has been a staple on the street. “Together, we've brought to life some of the most iconic Corrie products and into the hands of Co-op Members and customers - from Roy's Rolls to Betty's Hotpot to The Kabin cupcakes and R Ale. “As this era draws to a close, it's time to bid a fond farewell and reflect on what has been a truly brilliant journey. Thanks for the memories." Fans were left gutted over the news. Rushing to the comments section, one person said: “Heartbreaking.” Someone else added: “As a huge Corrie fan and I work for coop this has been an awesome partnership for me. “I’ve loved seeing the Corrie coop lorry with our deliveries I’m feeling emosh but looking forward to seeing what’s next.” A third penned: “Ahh gutted.” Other fans were left wondering what new brand could take its place on the street. One person said: “Probably turning into a barbers.” Another person mused: “Aldi
UK this could be your chance to shine.” Back in 2023, Co-op announced the launch of two Coronation Street licensed food lines. Fans of the soap were able to get their hands on Roy’s Rolls, a soft white roll. And for those with a sweet tooth, the shop launched The Kabin’s Rhubarb & Custard Cupcakes.
