Jamie Martin Mann will exit his role as Tate Black on this week with his final scenes airing on April 4. The
Actor has opened up about his departure following his six-month stint on the show as viewers saw the character get exonerated after being arrested for a crime he didn't commit and carted off to rehab. Jamie has now admitted how fulfilling he found the role and that leaving the show was a difficult choice for him. Jamie confessed that he "felt a lot of gratitude that I had the chance to close the storyline," and that it was "extremely fulfilling both for the character and also just for me, acting-wise, to be able to see the other side." He also confirmed that part of his decision to leave was that he wanted to prioritize his education over his career for now. He had been splitting his time between the West Coast for filming and the Midwest where he is attending the University of Michigan studying for a Musical Theater degree. He explained to Soap Opera Digest: "As much as I love the show, I love my school and the people and the community that I’ve developed here over two years, in the end, the pros outweighed the cons to stay and finish out my degree at the age that is stereotypically normal, maintain all the friendships that I have, and not put my college degree on hold. He added: "I also think part of that was just the fear that I would never find the time to finish it out. I really just want to be able to close this chapter before I inevitably enter the industry again.” Jamie described how his final day working on the set of Days was "really special" and that he expressed his gratitude having written "some people cards thanking them for making my time on set super-special." He also gushed about how "the chance to work with everyone was so awesome," and that his time on the show was an "invaluable learning experience. You learn so many lessons on that set. You learn how to prioritize and how to work super-quick.” He also confirmed feeling that his decision to leave was "quite difficult” because he “wanted to stay and continue to work with all of my favorite people,” but that “in the end, I knew it was the right decision.” He also hasn't rules out a return to the soap one day confirming he is "graduating in 2025, so I hope that at some point in time I get to work with everyone at DAYS again,” and that maybe he could return as “some cryogenically frozen specimen."
