A warning has been issued to visitors at Donna Nook after a seal was tragically found dead with a plastic ring around its neck. Last week, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust took to its
Facebook page to share the distressing image with their followers, which shows a deceased seal with a blue plastic ring from a container wrapped around its neck. The organisation is now urging visitors to the seal sanctuary, near Louth , to be aware of the dangers that left-behind litter poses to wildlife. Social Media, a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust wrote: "It is not unusual for our coastal wardens to come across a dead seal - we have a strong population in Lincolnshire and there are many natural causes. "The seal our Donna Nook team found this morning, though, had a plastic ring from a container around its neck. We have put the photo in the comments because we appreciate some will find it distressing. Please be aware of the dangers to our wildlife of litter left behind and, in particular, of ring-style frisbees lost during a game. Seals are naturally inquisitive and too often will end up putting their heads through these, sometimes with awful consequences."
