PORTLAND, Ore. (WNCN) – The NC State women’s
basketball team survived and advanced on Friday, winning 77-67 over the Stanford Cardinal to move onto the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Aziaha James has led NC State in the tournament so far, averaging 20.5 points per game, while Saniya Rivers has chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds per game in the wins over No. 14 Chattanooga and No. 6 Tennessee. For the Cardinal, Kiki Iriafen scored 41 points in Stanford’s overtime win against Iowa State, contributing to her average of 29 points over the first two games of the tournament. Veteran star and Oregon native Cameron Brink has averaged 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the wins against No. 15 Norfolk St. and the No. 7 Cyclones. NC State moves on to play either No. 1
Texas or No. 4 Gonzaga in the Elite Eight on Sunday. The NC State men’s basketball team is after their 67-58 victory over Marquette.
