Katie Price has shared new details about the horrific abuse she suffered as a child. The TV personality , 45, reflected on the violence enacted on her by various men over the years, starting with the rape she went through at just seven years old. In a new interview, Katie admitted that she ‘avoided’ dealing with the trauma of the rape, as well as other instances of abuse for years. She went onto reveal that her first ever boyfriend was a violent abuser, while her next partner cheated on her repeatedly. The former glamour model also emotionally unpacked the fall out from the time she and her family were held at gunpoint in
South Africa in 2018 during a carjacking. Katie was raped by one of the perpetrators, causing her to go to rehab to recover. Speaking on Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast, she shared that her daughter Princess, 16, is still not over the incident and still goes to therapy. Katie previously admitted that the harrowing carjacking led her to attempt suicide in 2018 during which she ‘knocked herself out and had black eyes.’ She soon after sought help for her PTSD. Taking Elizabeth through her traumatic life, starting from the beginning, Katie said: ‘I got raped in a park when I was seven, then I was nearly abducted. ‘Then I worked with a photographer, the
police knocked on the door and he used to drug girls with milkshakes, but I never took it. ‘One day he said ”I want you to be naked in a white wet shirt” and I said ”no” and then ”yeah,” so my start with men wasn’t good.’ Katie, who is the mother of five children herself, has long been open about her difficult childhood in East Sussex, where she grew up with her mother and stepfather after her biological father left the family when she was just four. She continued, telling Elizabeth: ‘My first boyfriend beat me up, the next would rip my clothes up and I would have to go ring my mum naked from a telephone box, then the next one cheated on me.’ Katie then took a moment to collect herself before admitting that she thinks her issues with men have profoundly effected the outcome of her life. She said: ‘So none of them were healthy and you become insecure and needy it becomes toxic. The childhood rape was something Katie long kept buried, only realising how much pain it was causing her when forced to recall it in an interview. She explained: ‘The rape never bothered me until I did Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, and I was embarrassed. I cried because I never thought about it but it obviously bothered me. ‘My mum had a cup of tea at the cafe and I remember the police coming and looking at my knickers, and I remember the man clear as day,’ she recalled of the traumatic incident.
