This remarkable boy is set to battle a critical illness to climb the highest mountain in Wales - Yr Wyddfa. James Oakden wants to raise vital funds for charity early next month. The seven-year-old was diagnosed with numerous cavernomas (a cluster of abnormal blood vessels) on the brain at just ten months old after experiencing significant seizures. They affect his day-to-day life, including absent seizures, losing his balance, and headaches. His mum Zoe Hughes says he is so brave, he doesn’t complain and just gets on with life. He has yearly MRI scans in hospital to monitor the cavernomas, and steroid injections every other day. WhatsApp community A spokesman from Make-a-Wish UK said: "James adored meeting the huskies and going on husky rides. Going on the wish boosted him up, and when he learned that the trip was completely free he wanted to raise money to pay the charity back, so that another child could have the same experience he’s had. "He decided himself that he wanted to raise money by climbing Snowdon. He’ll be doing the climb in April of this year. It will be quite a feat for any seven-year-old!" Yr Wyddfa is 1,085 metres (3,560ft) high.
