New Delhi: New skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad had a dream start to his captaincy as defending champions Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 6 wickets in the opening contest of the Indian Premier League 2024 on Friday. Chasing 174 runs, the home side reached the score with 8 balls to spare as southpaw Shivam Dube played a fighting knock at the end to power CSK to the season opening victory. Dube (34 not out) along with Ravindra Jadeja (25 not out) stitched a remarkable stand for the 5th wicket after the hosts lost the top four batters in regular intervals. Skipper Gaikwad scored 15 runs while debutant Rachin Ravindra played an amazing knock of 37 runs off just 15 balls up front.
