Saturday Night Live alum addressed recent comments made by her co-star and friend, Kristen Wiig , about the potential for a follow-up to the 2011 comedy. "It's never been a conversation," Wiig, 50, told The
Hollywood Reporter . "That story had an end, and it's so beloved to me for 10 million reasons, and I think it's OK to just have it exist in the world as it is." In response, Rudolph -- who starred as Lilian, the bride-to-be in the Paul Feig-directed film -- said that she respects Wiig's decision and that she doesn't get a say in whether or not a Bridesmaids sequel moves forward. "I saw that. I mean, if that's how she feels..." the
Actress and comedian said. "I don't know, I feel like people are always looking for some sort of answer from me, like, it's not up to me." Rudolph added, "We had the best time doing it, so I feel like I get it." To this day, the film is the highest-grossing Judd Apatow project, grossing $288 million worldwide at the box office, according to
box office Mojo . Additionally, Wiig and her writing partner, Annie Mumolo, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Bridesmaids also starred Rose Byrne, Wendi Mclendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Jon Hamm and Melissa McCarthy -- who received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film. As for whether she will revive another character she is well-known for -- her portrayal of Vice President Kamala Harris on
SNL -- the actress is certainly not ruling out a return to Studio 8H at Rockefeller Plaza, saying it could be Harris' "time to shine." It would be like heading home for the star, who spent seven years of her life on the show and developed close relationships with everyone in the cast. So much so that, when asked, she could not pinpoint any favorite memories, she said, "I have too many." "I feel like I didn't realize how young we were and I didn't realize how much we got to play together," she said of looking back at her time on the
comedy series. "And that's the nicest thing about that network of people. There's so many wonderful people that I'm lucky to have in my life because of that show." Another thing she is grateful for are the opportunities that SNL has provided following her 2007 exit. Aside from Bridesmaids , the actress has starred in Grown Ups, Disenchanted, Big Mouth, The Good Place and more. Most recently, fans have been eating up her role as Molly Wells -- the ex-wife of a tech billionaire whose divorce made her the third-richest woman in the world -- in Loot. When it comes to season 2, Rudolph is promising even more gags and shenanigans, some in the same vein as her parody appearance on Hot Ones in season 1. During that bit, Rudolph's character had a hilarious breakdown while eating chicken wings with host Sean Evans. Outside of the show, the scene became a meme and spawned an idea for how to open the new installment of the show. Rudolph also teased a possible love connection between her character and Arthur, played by Nat Faxon. The pair had a certain unspoken chemistry throughout season 1 that is definitely coming back for season 2. "I'm teasing that there is definitely a flirtation there and there's some connection and I think they're both looking," she said. Loot season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on April 3.
