Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand has suggested Christian Eriksen must begin considering his future at
Manchester United . Eriksen became one of Erik ten Hag ’s first signings following his arrival in Manchester, joining the club on a free transfer in July 2022 on a three-year deal. The Dane was a key member of the starting XI last season but has started just one league match since the turn of the year, making just one further appearance from the bench. Eriksen has not featured in the team on any consistent basis since before

Tottenham star was named in the Denmark squad for upcoming friendly games against Switzerland and Faroe Islands. Eriksen’s national team manager Hjulmand has aired his concerns over the midfielder’s lack of game time, admitting the situation ‘must change soon’ . ‘It is not the best situation as it is right now,’ Denmark boss Hjulmand said. ‘I really, really hope that changes. I’m pretty sure we’ll see a fit Christian. I know he is. ‘But it is clear that if it continues, then for Christian it can be like it is with everyone else. There may be a concern about the level you can perform if you don’t get more playing time than what it is at the moment. ‘I very much hope that it changes. A player as skilled as Christian has to play, and of course we very much hope that things change at United. But not having played anymore is not the best situation.’ Eriksen played 58 minutes of the 2-2 draw with Totttenham, coming in the second-half and playing 37 minutes in the defeat to Fulham last month. They have been his only appearances in 2024, also overlooked for FA Cup games against Wigan, Newport County and Nottingham Forest.
