An incredible map shows which language is the second most popular after English in each Midlands town. The interactive map has been produced by the Office for National Statistics. Our region proudly welcomes people from all over the world who decide to settle in the
UK. But which languages continue to be spoken in parts of Birmingham and the Black Country? The two most popular languages are Urdu and Punjabi. Urdu is widely spoken in South Asia and Punjabi comes from the Punjab region of
Pakistan and

Singer Amy Lou Also high on the list for Birmingham was an African language. Sadly, the map does not display which African language specifically is most widely spoken. There are over 1,000 languages spoken throughout the continent. Scroll down to see which language is the second most popular in different areas of the Midlands. Birmingham Urdu is the most common second language with 2.28 per cent of people speaking it. African languages are second at 1.32 per cent. Sandwell Punjabi is the most common second language at 6.38 per cent. Wolverhampton Punjabi is the most common second language at 6.51 per cent. Solihull Punjabi is the most common second language at 0.56 per cent. Dudley Urdu is the most common second language at 0.77 per cent.
