The authority launched its three month trial in January, which has seen desk based staff work fewer hours for the same pay. The trial was introduced to see if it will help the district council to attract staff to work at the authority and to help keep the current staff working there. The district council has previously reported that a survey conducted after four weeks showed many staff felt less stressed . At a cabinet meeting this morning (Monday, March 20) councillors agreed for a report on the findings from the trial to be presented to a meeting on May 15. The report will look at the district council’s key performance indicators between January and March to see how the changes impacted the work, as well as a health and wellbeing survey, to see how staff were impacted. If the data from the trial is viewed to be positive by the district council, with performance maintained and staff health and wellbeing improved, then it is expected that a recommendation will be made to extend the trial for a further year.
